I have always had a hard time motivating myself to read. I read well; it is just something I do not enjoy doing. All through middle school and high school, up unto my senior year, I used Sparknotes and would never read the books my teachers assigned. It felt pointless to me because we would end up watching the movie anyway. Even when we were assigned chapters to read at night I would look up summaries of the chapters in order to pass the quiz the next day. My senior year of high school I was assigned a book project and I downloaded the book I chose on my Kindle. I found that I actually read the book and enjoyed it. I liked being able to listen to the book and also read without it feeling like it was a chore. I think I was happy about the idea that I was using my tablet. I believe in allowing students to use technology because I feel like it allows them to do their work through ways they can relate to. Teachers can introduce Amazon to their students so that they can use e-books. This may help the students that struggle with finding an interest in reading. It definitely worked for me! I don't like when teachers are kind of close minded and only want their students to use books from the library and the book store. I feel like they serve the same purpose. It is a personal preference in my opinion.
